This week I had the pleasure of attending Peter and Tamara Lowe's Get Motivated! seminar at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando , Florida . I have no affiliation with her company, and I am not paid to write this review. I simply enjoyed the experience and want to share some of the highlights with Search Warp readers.

INEXPENSIVE EDUCATION I paid $20 for my fianc and I to attend the full day. The tickets were $5 each plus $10 for 2 workbooks. There was no "catch." You could send your entire organization for no more than $20. The seats were good. I could have upgraded my seats closer to the stage, but I still heard and saw everything. You could buy optional tickets to financial seminars hosted by two of the local speakers discounted to $100 and $49 each. Tamara Lowe sold her book at a discount price of $15 for seminar attendees with all profits going to children's charities. We do not know how this company even paid for the costs of this seminar. If a Get Motivated seminar comes to your area, make an effort to attend. The opportunity to hear first rate speakers for the cost of a fast food meal does not happen often.

THE SPEAKERS A great mix of admirable people from business, politics, sports, and religion.

Rudy Giuliani: Described how he dealt with insurmountable crisis during 9/11. He used the best ideas of various disaster plans (hurricane, air plane crash). New York City used lessons from past disasters to handle the 9/11 crisis.

Lou Holtz: He is in his 80s but is sharp as a tack. He stressed that circumstances do not determine success. Your attitude is the most important ingredient. He lost jobs at times when he needed them the most. His players were not always the most gifted. He simply refused to fail. I am not a fan of Notre Dame football since I am a Boston College alum, but I am a Lou Holtz fan.

Colin Powell: You may not agree with his politics, but he is a true American hero. Every part of his speech conveyed the message that he loves the United States as much as life itself. For example, he talked about eating his favorite hot dog from his favorite hot dog stand in New York City . I never heard someone talk so passionately about hot dogs. He seemed to really appreciate his unique American experiences like our world class hot dogs.

Laura Bush: She is all class. She described her 9/11 experience and her mission to boost literacy in the U.S. Also, she described how to find purpose in private life after leaving the public spot light.

Terry Bradshaw: Very down-to-earth and funny. He talked about finding strength in your family. He seems to love his kids more than anything. He did not have great things to say about today's $14 million / year quarterbacks who do not even call their own plays. He had a ton of energy despite jet lag. He returned the night before from Afghanistan where he entertained our troops.

Tamara Lowe: She recovered from desperate drug addiction as a teenager to become a motivation researcher and speaker. Her research concluded that there are three areas of motivation. The key to bringing out great success in anyone is to tap into his/her particular "motivation code." I plan to order her book and read more about this. It seems her research benefits anyone who must work with diverse personalities.

Zig Ziglar: He recovered from a fall down his stairs in 2007, so his daughter helped facilitate his speech. He seems as determined as ever. We saw some of his previous speeches by video with his famous water pump story: it might take a lot of effort start the flow of water out of the pump, but once the water starts flowing, it takes little effort to keep it going.

Dr. Robert Schuller: He was the last speaker, and those who left early missed a great story. He explained how a college undergrad solved an "unsolvable" problem during a math final exam because he arrived late and missed the professor's instructions. The professor made the last two problems optional because no one in the world had solved them yet. The student who missed the instructions believed he had to solve the problems. He did not know they were "unsolvable." He solved one of them and ran out of time to work on the second. The professor was astonished. The message: nothing is impossible with God.

DOOR PRIZES There were 4 great door prizes: a big screen TV, a cruise, a car, and $250,000 cash. An Army soldier won the cruise. Everyone was thrilled for him. A young woman won the $250,000. She looked like a sweet lady who really deserved a break. I do not know where the money came from for these prizes. Perhaps local organizations donated some of them. Maybe the mailing list generates money. I do not how they did it.

Generally, anyone who wants to achieve anything could benefit from attending this seminar. It is so easy to worry, complain, and expect the worst. Clearly the people who rise to the top avoid toxic brain food. Seek out the stories of highly successful people for daily inspiration. They are no better and no worse than any one of us. They simply refuse to fail. They confront problems and fix broken relationships. They learn from every mistake.

Take advantage of this great opportunity if a seminar comes to your area. See www.getmotivated.com for a schedule of seminars.

That was quite a list of well-known guest speakers. This guest list certainly gives credibility to the seminar. It must have been some accomplishment to bring them all together, and undoubtedly was not only interesting, but motivating. Thanks for the info.

Thank you, Roger, for reading and responding. I would love to know what the staff goes through to organize so many speakers for one event.

The Get Motivated seminars are a true scam. I highly doubt this comment will actually be published, but recently having attended this seminar, to my deep regret, honestly, my heart goes out to anyone seeking to be motivated on any kind of intellectual level. Or, maybe that's the point. They aren't. Speakers not originally promoted took up our time to sell us things we didn't want, Sarah Palin appeared and said absolutely nothing worthwhile, and we left, and many of us left, after the 4th speaker. It is tragically advertised as something it isn't.

I agree completely.
